Carved Wooden Treasure Box

 

The ornately embelished camphor wood container is decorated with a "singa" or protective deity.

The singa was a mythological figure that was part human, part water buffalo or horse, and part crocodile or lizard.  It's features consist of an elongated face, large bulging eyes, and a prominent nose. 

Ancestral figures or other gods may also be represented either standing or sitting on the singa.

There is a carved crocodile on the box lid.  

 

Container is 12" x 7.5" x 2"

Interior compartment: 3" x 1.5" x 1.5"
