Fairy Stone
 
Each fairy stone is a unique creation of nature. 
They were formed thousands of years ago from cementation of sand and silt by calcite.
This process is known as concretion.
Colors range from deep grays to beige to chalky white.
One side is usually smooth and the other may have impressions of fossilized grasses.
These are found along remote shorelines and in the riverbeds of Abitibi, Quebec.
 
According to Native legend, these stones bring health and prosperity
as well as protect against evil spirits.
